I still NEED a transmission shop to TRUST

I've got a 2000 Explorer and took it to Benton Transmission last Tuesday, Sept 28. Chris told me, "we'll take the pan off, check it out, if it looks good, we'll just do a total flush. This should take care of it, those filters get clogged up all the time and cause slipping and shifting not to happen."

I left it with them. Picked it up the next day, paid $140. He said the pan looked good so they just did a total system flush.

All was good, until Saturday, three days later. Same issues that I had told him about prior.

Called them while on the way to work today, Explorer wouldn't go in to Reverse for several minutes when trying to leave my home and never shifted into third the whole way in.

Talked with Chris again. He said, "bring it in and we'll hook it up to the computer, sounds like a clutch might be slipping...and if that's the case it could be in the range of $1,200 to do a rebuild." I asked about having some credit toward future work done since the method they suggested didn't fix the problem, he said, "no, we don't do that, we give you options on fixing and that's just a risk, besides, it sounds like it fixed it for a little while." I'm sorry but THREE days is hardly a fix. As well, there were no options given to me.

Today, he suggested that I bring it in and they hook it up to a computer and they could see what's wrong with it. My question is...WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD YOU NOT HAVE HOOKED IT UP TO THE COMPUTER IN THE FIRST PLACE???

Definitely not going back to them while they exhibit this form of customer service.

I have been doing business with Benton Transmission for well over 10 years and I have had nothing less than an awesome experience on every visit. I own 9 vehicles and at some point Bill and his boys have worked on everything from my 1969 Jeep CJ, 1975 Cadillac ElDorado to my 2004 Z06! The best service anywhere... Hands down!
