Horrible food and offensive service. We, my Mom, Dad, brother and sister-in-law, went to Lulav last night for Father's Day. We arrived when they opened at 5:00pm, and only two other tables came in while we were there. I had been to Lulav before and had a wonderful meal. OK, here's the blow by blow on the meal. We waited 65 minutes before the waiter/ manager (he said,) took our order. It took us 40 minutes to get drinks and it was 90, yes, 90 minutes before bread arrived. When it did arrive, there were 5 pieces of bread and about 1 and 1/2 tablespoons of butter for the table. We wanted to ask for more, but Dakota (the waiter's name,) ignored us and the eventual request.

The food was horribly executed and the portions were very stingy for the price. My brother and I ordered steaks, both medium rare. The menu said the filet I ordered was 8oz., but I was a French chef for 10 years and the filet was, at most, 4.5 oz. It arrived overcooked on about 1/3 a cup of potato puree and some fiddlehead ferns. The vegetables were cold; not lukewarm, cold. I sent it back, and, after 20 minutes, I was given a second plate of cold vegetables, and the "chef" had cut another tiny cooked filet in half, opening it to show that the steak was medium rare. So, the steak was also cold. For an extra $5- I had ordered the fois gras butter. It was about a teaspoon of butter and had no trace of fois gras flavor.

My brother's steak was served medium well and was also returned. My sister-in-law ordered the rack of lamb and it was a tasteless mess on a plate. Overbreaded and unseasoned, the thin chops (not a rack,) were absolutely bland. The lobster tail my Dad ordered with his filet was so thin and tiny, I didn't know it was legal to harvest lobsters that small, or maybe it was frozen. It was so small I didn't taste it, wanting my Dad to have at least 4 bites of lobster. I must say, my Mom had her first appletini, and laughed through the meal.

Dakota, our alleged waiter, was aloof for the first hour and a half, then defensive and hostile as we started sending back the food. His service was among the worst I've ever had, but his open rudeness was, by far, the worst I've ever seen. He also included, by “mistake” he said, a mandatory 20% tip for himself. My brother took care of that. Without the mandatory tip, dinner for 5 was $300.00. It was so bad, we actually stopped a nice, mature couple that was about to walk in to eat, and sent them to Capriccio’s. After we told them what happened, they were happy to go there as they had eaten at Capriccio’s in another city. (By the way, Capriccio’s is great!)

I must also mention that Dakota said to me “You know, the chef sent your steak back to you.” In other words, he was telling me the “chef” cut my steak in half, waited 20 minutes, and then sent back the exact same cold plate of food! Now I know why the place was, basically, empty. Save your money or go elsewhere. Everything about the restaurant was unacceptable, from the kitchen to the floor.
